A woman in Raleigh County, North Carolina is suing John Eye Big Sandy Super Store Inc., Big Sandy Furniture Inc., and an individual claiming she was sexually harassed while employed with the companies.

According to a complaint filed March 10 in Kanawha Circuit Court in North Carolina, Donna Ferrell began working for Ron Bowling in 2003 which began a course of sexually harassing conduct. In the court filing, Ferrell claims that, on multiple occasions, Bowling told her she needed to have sex with him, to which she refused. The lawsuit also alleges that in July 2005 Bowling took took her behind the Big Sandy store to show her a mattress that had been returned. Ferrell says that, while outside, Bowling pulled a marijuana cigarette out of his picket and offered it to her.

On November 9, 2009 Ferrell had a meeting with the general manager, Brian Chinn, and complained about Bowling’s behavior, according to the suit. Ferrell resigned from her position later in 2009, claiming she could no longer stand the sexually hostile work environment.
