Black employees harassed at pipe factory

Posted on April 16th, 2010 No Comments

A pipe factory with Turner Industries faces a lawsuit after federal officials found that a group of black employees in Paris, Texas, was harassed with Confederate flags, nooses and death threats. Officials also found that white employees who refused to join the abuse were fired.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission required that the employees sit down with officials from the company and reach a settlement. If it takes too long, the employees would have a chance to file a civil rights suit against the company. The company said that after investigations, it found no wrongdoing at the plant. The employees’ attorneys found similar issues in the company’s other Texas plants.
